ICROM: Proxis Développement’s strategic pharmaceutical platform

Since 1969, ICROM Srl has embodied Italian pharmaceutical industrial expertise within the family-owned Proxis Développement group.
‍
Specialising in the development and production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), ICROM operates as both:
‍

  • La diversification maîtrisée des activités

  • L’intégration progressive de la chaîne de valeur pour des ingrédients robustes et innovants

  • L'internationalisation progressive.

  • A manufacturer of generic active ingredients

  • Pharmaceutical CDMO for the global pharmaceutical industry

  • Strategic CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls) partner for innovative laboratories

‍
ICROM’s business today is based on a balance between the production of generic APIs and high value-added CDMO projects, ensuring both industrial stability and a dynamic approach for innovation.
‍
With over 50 years’ expertise in fine chemistry and industrialisation, ICROM has established itself as a leading European player in the production of complex small molecules and high-value-added active pharmaceutical ingredients. Today, ICROM supports over 200 global stakeholders in the pharmaceutical sector and offers 25 industrial-scale APIs, several of which are produced under exclusive licence.

An industrial trajectory built to last, with an international focus

Founded by Jean Epuran in 1969, ICROM began its operations as a CMO for Synthelabo (now Sanofi).
‍
In 1996, its integration into the family-owned Moor Group marked a major strategic turning point for its development. This affiliation with our holding company enabled ICROM to accelerate its organisational development, boost its investments and consolidate its international positioning.

"
Thanks to our integration into Proxis Développement, our pharmaceutical division has undergone a profound transformation: expansion of the industrial site, modernisation of equipment and increased capacity for complex and highly active molecules. Today, our site in Italy now covers over 20,000 m² and constitutes an integrated pharmaceutical platform meeting international standards "

An ambitious investment plan for HP-APIs

Driven by a five-year investment programme worth €30 million, ICROM achieved key milestones in 2025:
‍

  • Commissioning of a new HP-API industrial unit dedicated to anti-cancer active pharmaceutical ingredients, produced in a contained environment

  • Opening of a R&D laboratory specifically dedicated to HP-APIs

  • Construction of a multi-purpose unit of over 100 m³ (to be completed over two years)

  • Expansion of the solvent storage facility (from 30 to 160 m³)

  • Creation of a new wastewater treatment plant

  • Installation of an RTO (regenerative thermal oxidiser) system

  • Presence of an ultra-pure water production unit

This equipment strengthens the site’s capacity to support its clients from clinical development through to GMP API manufacturing, in compliance with quality, safety and environmental performance standards.

A balanced model, focused on sustainable growth

Supported by Proxis Développement’s long-term vision, ICROM positions itself as a pharmaceutical CDMO capable of industrialising complex molecules, mastering the challenges of pharmaceutical scale-up and sustainably supporting the sector’s growth.
